Trees and shrubs are a long term investment. Be sure to choose the best
variety for the location you want them to grow.Trees are a very important part of every landscape. They provide shade
from strong sunshine, barriers against wind, play structures for
children, and much more: blossoms in the spring, fruit in the summer, color
in the fall, and shade all year. Trees reduce pollution and are
effective smog and dust fighters. We breathe 35 pounds of oxygen each day. All
of this oxygen comes from trees and other green plants. Trees serve as
homes for birds, insects and other wildlife. Many trees attract a
variety of birds and insects that prey on each other, helping to balance our
ecosystem. Trees are natural air conditioners.
The evaporation from a
single tree can produce a cooling effect equal to a ten-room size air
conditioner operating twenty hours a day. Tree roots hold soil in place
to prevent erosion from water and wind. Trees give us a constant supply
of products: paper, syrup, adhesives, color crayons, and mulches, just
to name a few.

Plant Several Trees in One Hole Handout
Today, families have less space for fruit trees, they have less time to take care of them, and they have less time to process or preserve large harvests than in the past. Accordingly, today’s family orchards should be planned and managed differently. The main objective of planting several trees in one hole is to prolong the harvest of tree-ripe fruit in a small space. This means planting several varieties, of the same type of fruit, in one hole, which will ripen at different times. Having three or four trees, instead of one, means you can harvest fruit for ten to twelve weeks instead of only harvesting fruit for two or three weeks. Many Different Varieties of Plants
Listed below are the major category of trees and shrubs that we sell.
We have many information sheets available describing the growth habits
and characteristics of most of the shrubs and trees we sell.
Unfortunately, we do not have all the plants listed in these information sheets
available all season long, and sometimes we do not even have them every
year. Sometimes we have to order a few plants two and three years in advance to be
able to get them.
